It can be challenging to think of fun things to do with your dad for Father’s Day that aren’t the same things you did last year, and the year before that…and the year before that. It’s extra difficult to find a cool way to celebrate if you can’t be with your dad in person, but luckily you’ve come to the right place for virtual father’s day ideas!
Do something unique and invite dad and his favorite family and friends to connect over party games online. Whether you can’t be together in person due to distance, bad weather, or having to stay home with the new puppy, with GameApart, you can still get together for laughs and friendly (or not) trash-talking. For added kicks, you can easily turn any game into a drinking game, if your dad is into that sort of thing.
Fire up Zoom, Meet, Skype, or whatever you use for video hangouts and organize a day of gameplay with your people to celebrate dad, no matter how far apart you may be!
Here are our recommendations for Father’s Day games:
For the Dad With the Dark or Inappropriate Jokes
You will need to play a game of GIFS Against Society and watch as hilarity, or complete cringe, ensues. This game is essentially Cards Against Humanity online but made more unpredictable thanks to the use of GIFs. We also have a PG version if you are too nervous about what could happen if you let your dad play the adult version, but we say go for it — after all, chaos and laughter are two of our favorite father’s day activities!
For the Literary Dad
Is your dad a big fan of words and constantly correcting you on proper usage? Well, then you have to play The Word, where players give a one-word clue to get the Guesser to figure out the mystery word. It gets tricky when players use the same word because they both get deleted, so the Guesser has less to work with! The goal here is to think of a great clue, but one that’s not so obvious that other players use it, too. Your word-fan dad will be into it.
For the Dad Who Knows Things
Do you have one of those dads who just knows all kinds of facts and trivia and the name of every person who has played any sport, ever? If so, consider yourself lucky, because some of us have dads who can’t remember the name of any actor but will spend a lot of time trying, unsuccessfully, to describe them to you anyway. So if you have a dad with all the knowledge, play Tip of the Tongue. Choose from categories like science & tech, entertainment, sports, and several others, and laugh as players give their best descriptions to help the guesser figure out the word in question.
For the Dad Who Cheats at Uno
Are you still resentful knowing that your dad used to stack his cards in such a way that it looked like he was only playing one card when really he was getting rid of three? Or would he discard a few while you weren’t looking? The advantage of taking game night digital is that it’s impossible for anyone to cheat — unless they are a very talented hacker, that is. Head to our old west themed card game Ochos Locos, aka Crazy Eights, which is based on…Uno. Your revenge will be sweet!
For the Dad Who Was a Rock During the Pandemic
If your dad baked a lot of banana bread or learned to oil paint during quarantine, then he might enjoy looking back and laughing at what was…well, quite a year. Play a few rounds of Done With 2020 — it will make you laugh instead of cry.
We have other fun games for adults to play online as well, with more added monthly, so after your online Father’s Day turns out to be a success, plan to make playing games together a regular thing!
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, stepdads, paw-paws, and father-figures out there!
