When it comes to playing games in a relationship, some people will tell you never to do it — they say that competition and a need to “one-up” the other person does not make a healthy dynamic. On the other hand, a lot of people say playing games is the only way to add spontaneity and surprise to a relationship, helping to keep it exciting and fun.

At GameApart, we believe that playing games can actually bring people closer together. We’ve seen firsthand how playing games over Zoom or other video conferencing software allows people to connect with their people, whether they are 6 feet, 6 miles, or 6 states apart. GameApart makes games to play in a relationship that will leave you feeling connected and loved!

Here are 4 Great Games to Play with People You Love

GIFs Against Society

If you love Cards Against Humanity and respond to texts primarily with GIFs, you’ve just found your new favorite game! This game plays just like Cards Against Humanity, but with the genius and inspired addition of — you guessed it — GIFs! Honestly, sometimes the GIFs are funnier/weirder/disturbing-er than the Cards themselves. If playing this with Grandma would be just TOO awkward, we do have a G and PG option…but we say go for it — if neither of you dies of embarrassment, it will make a great story!

Verboden

Verboden is a team-based competitive word-guessing game for fans of games like Taboo, Scattergories, and Catch Phrase and is best played with 4-12 players. The game’s goal is for your team to guess the most amount of words based on clues given by one member of the team. If you say a Verboden word, the other team can BUZZ you, and you don’t want them to have the satisfaction! While playing Verboden with friends is fun, we think this is one of the best games to play with coworkers. It’s a great way to bond with your team…or make new work frenemies, depending on your style.

Tip of the Tongue

Tip of the Tongue is a word-guessing game for fans of Heads Up, Charades, and Catch Phrase. It’s best played with 2-10 players. Players choose from a variety of topics that include Entertainment, Sports, Science, Musical Theater, Food & Drink, and more. You help each other guess as many secret words as possible before time runs out, or someone has an anxiety attack from all the excited yelling! This is one of our favorite games to play with the family online.

The Word

The Word is a cooperative word-guessing game for fans of games like Just One, Scattergories, and Catch Phrase that’s best played with 3-10 friends. For this one, the goal is for the Guesser to figure out the Mystery Word. To do this, each player enters a one word clue that will hopefully inspire the Guesser to think of it. The catch is, if more than one player enters the same word, all instances get deleted, giving the Guesser fewer clues. While the goal technically is to avoid this, when it does happen it is frustrating, hilarious, and a good time for all! This is a great one for word-lovers and any online game night, really.

An online game night can spice up any relationship, and those listed above are just a few of our favorites. New games are added monthly, so you’ll never get bored or feel trapped in something stale. Invite your loved ones to join you for a super fun game night.
